The bloody war on drugs continued to claim the lives of drug pushers and dealers, but it seemed like victims of drug-addled suspects were not given as much attention on national television.
One netizen took to task of writing a eulogy for the unborn baby who died in its mother’s womb. The mother was 26-year-old Jizelle Duay of Brgy. Payatas, Quezon City, shot and hacked to death in broad daylight. She was with her live-in partner, Mark James Mendevilla, who sustained shrapnel wounds from the shotgun blast.
In the viral Facebook post, the guy began with, “Sorry baby walang mag wewelga para sayo.” He was referring to the protests to be held in behalf of Kian Loyd Delos Santos, the teenager reportedly killed by police operatives during Oplan Galugad in Caloocan City.
“Kung Pulis nakapatay sayo hahanapan ka ng Hustisya, magtetrending ka at gagawin nilang “balitaserye” yung nangyari sayo sa mga pangunahing balitaan at pages sa facebook.”
“Kung pulis ang nakapatay sayo baka binisita ka pa ng Mahal ng Vice President,” he wrote. Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Risa Hontiveros, both Liberal Party members, visited the wake of Kian to comfort the grieving family.
He lamented the lack of media focus on innocent victims like Duay’s baby. He continued, “kaso hindi baby e. Menor de edad na adik lang nakapatay sayo eh. So ayun. Pasensya ka na sa iba nakafocus kasi mapapakinabangan yun e.”
According to the GMA News report, the suspect in Duay and her baby’s murder was a minor who had two accomplices during the attack. They were positively identified by Mendevilla.
The 16-year-old suspect shot Duay and Mendevilla because the latter was P400 short of the agreed payment for purchased drugs. The attack left Duay, who was 9 months pregnant, dead. To date, the suspect is in hiding.
Meanwhile, the suspect’s mother is in jail for drug pushing. Duay’s mother appealed to her, but the suspect’s mother still won’t reveal her son’s location.
Despite being a minor, charges of murder, frustrated murder, and unintentional abortion will be filed against the suspect.
